MEXICO GRABS TOP SPOT FOR LATAM PRIVATE EQUITY

Fondo de Fondos, a big investor in private equity in Mexico, says its portfolio companies in the country employ 46,000 people directly and another 134,000 indirectly, but it is impossible to know how many of these jobs would still exist in the absence of a private equity industry.

Felipe Vilá, The head of “Fondo de Fondos”, believes the upsurge in private equity investment has been positive for Mexico, given the country’s “enormous need for investment” and the benefits of professionalising family-run businesses.
